HOUSING AFFORDABILITY Killeen is back on top of the list of the most affordable housing market in the United States. An article featured last month in Business Week Magazine highlighted the annual survey and wrote about Killeen being the number one most affordable market to purchase a home in the nation. The survey compares the prices of four bedroom homes with an average of 2,200 square feet, and two bathrooms, which in Killeen, costs about $136,725. Beverly Hills, California, is the most expensive market where the same home will cost you $2,206,883.
UNDER VALUED HOUSING Presently, Killeen is the third most under valued housing market (16%) in the United States. Texas actually leads the nation in under valued housing markets with nine out of the top ten. College Station is the most under valued at 23%, and El Paso is second at 18%.
INSURANCE You need to have liability insurance! Many property owners believe that their tenant dwelling policy (TDP) includes liability coverage. Some do, but many do not. Dont wait to until its too late. You should make it a point to visit or contact your insurance agent at least once a year to review your policy. Doing so will ensure that you and your property are protected. Make sure that you are not over-insured. For example, there is no need to insure a property for $130,000 when its value is only $100,000. For multi-family property owners, Allstate is now offering a policy with a $1,000 deductible instead of 1% and liability coverage is included, which negates the need for a separate policy or going without. HEATER CHECKS & SERVICES We are preparing to perform our annual inspections and maintenance of gas furnaces beginning this month for those owners that have requested this service. 3rd ARMORED CAV REG DEPLOYING Ft. Hood has announced that over 4,600 soldiers with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment are deploying this month to Iraq for fifteen months.
The 3rd ACR arrived at Ft. Hood fourteen months ago after relocating from Ft. Carson, Colorado. We expect to see a fair number of families coming and going in the months ahead as the 1st Cavalry Division returns to Ft. Hood and the 4th Infantry Division begins its deployment back to Iraq.
