April is National Fair Housing Month, which celebrates the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Title 8 of this law prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, and national origin. Amended in 1974, the law further prohibits discrimination based on familial status and mental or physical handicap.
